Global coal production remains a significant part of the world’s energy landscape
With the implementation of our roll press technology, KOMAREK can help to achieve sustainable compaction in coal operations.
Overview
Methods of Sustainable Compaction in Coal
The industrial use of roll press technology began in the coal production industry, where it addressed the challenge of managing coal fines—small particles generated during mining and handling. These fines, which account for approximately 5–10% of total coal output, were once considered waste due to their poor transportability and limited usability. Roll press briquetters revolutionized the industry by agglomerating these fines into solid briquettes, making them easier to handle, store, and utilize. This innovation not only reduced waste but also improved overall efficiency. Today, it is estimated that 200 to 300 million metric tons of coal fines are briquetted annually.
